Only Rock N Roll

American Bombshell

The song "Only Rock N Roll" from American Bombshell's album Tattooed N' Bruised is a gritty anthem that pays homage to the raw energy of classic rock, featuring a standout collaboration with David Roach of Junkyard on backing vocals. According to a review by Sleaze Roxx, the track serves as a lyrical schooling in the history and impact of rock 'n' roll, with frontman Jay Cee and Roach trading vocals like a master and apprentice, delivering a scorching guitar solo that perfectly complements the song's infectious groove. The band has shared on their Facebook page that recording this track was a high-energy experience, with the studio sessions at The Pop Machine in Indianapolis fueled by a shared passion for no-nonsense rock. A fun tidbit from their Instagram posts reveals that the song's chorus was inspired by late-night jam sessions where the band would crank up old Guns N' Roses and Aerosmith records, aiming to capture that same rebellious spirit.

American Bombshell formed in 2014 in Indianapolis, born out of a desire to fill a void in the modern music scene with unapologetic, in-your-face rock 'n' roll. Guitarist Steve Boyles and drummer Jason Carr, who had been collaborating for years, recruited vocalist Jay Cee, lead guitarist Andy Nixon, and bassist Dustin Green to complete the lineup. As noted in an interview with NUVO, the band came together organically, with members bonding over a shared love for bands like Guns N' Roses and Junkyard, and a mission to create music that was "cool" without overcomplicating things. Their early days were marked by relentless gigging across the Midwest, building a loyal fanbase through sweat-soaked live shows. Their big break came in 2015 when their single "Another Dead Rockstar" won a nationwide Grammy Amplifier contest, earning them a chance to record with legendary producer Mike Clink at EastWest Studios in Hollywood.
