Fast Company

Eagles

Zoo Freaks, get ready for some juicy trivia about "Fast Company" by the Eagles from their 2007 album Long Road Out of Eden, spinning now on THE ZOO! This track, written by Don Henley and Glenn Frey, was crafted with their daughters in mind, addressing the intense peer pressure young people face. Henley shared in an interview with the Perth Sunday Times that the song reflects on his own childhood, capturing the overwhelming need to fit in and be "cool" with the right clothes or gadgets. It’s a guitar-driven jam with a straightforward drumbeat by Scott Crago, spiced up with shakers by Luis Conte and horns from the "Mighty Horn" section, giving it that classic Eagles shine with a funky twist. Fun fact: "Fast Company" was one of three tracks—alongside "No More Cloudy Days" and "Do Something"—released in 2006 on a bonus CD exclusive to Wal-Mart with the Farewell 1 Tour-Live from Melbourne DVD, giving fans an early taste before the album dropped.

The Eagles’ journey kicked off in Los Angeles in 1971, born from a serendipitous connection through Linda Ronstadt. Founding members Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner had all backed Ronstadt, playing on her self-titled third solo album. Manager David Geffen saw their potential and signed them to his new label, Asylum Records. Their debut album in 1972 blended rock, country, and folk, setting the stage for their rise as country-rock pioneers. By the mid-1970s, with hits like "Take It Easy" and "Hotel California," they became one of the most successful bands of the era, selling over 200 million records worldwide. Despite breakups and lineup changes—including Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit joining later—they reunited in 1994 for Hell Freezes Over and kept rocking, with Long Road Out of Eden marking their first full studio album in nearly three decades.
