Too Old to Care

Huntingtons

The song "Too Old to Care" by Huntingtons from their album ¡Muerto, Carcel, O Rocanrol! is a standout track that resonates with fans for its raw energy and relatable themes. Released on January 31, 2020, it was the lead single from the band's first full-length album in nearly 17 years. One fan, JRock, shared on Bandcamp that they turned 45 the day before the album dropped, calling it their "midlife soundtrack" and praising "Too Old To Care" as their favorite track. The song's lyrics reflect a cynical yet catchy take on aging, with lines like, "Took a listen to your playlist/Tried my best but man it’s not my thing," capturing a sense of generational disconnect. The track also got a special 7" vinyl release, paired with a cover of Greg Kihn Band's "The Breakup Song (They Don't Write 'Em)," available in various colored vinyl options, which became a collector's item for fans.

Another piece of trivia comes from the song's production history. Recorded in 2019 by Joe Tracey at Orion Studios, the album, including "Too Old To Care," was remixed in 2024 by Perry Leenhouts of Point Break Sound for the ¡Muerto, Carcel, O Rocanrol! Renacido! release. Fans on Bandcamp raved about the remix, with one calling the clear or white 12" vinyl LP "the best record you can pick up this year." The song's themes of aging and indifference also tie into the album's broader narrative, which explores the band's journey from nearly disbanding in 2005 to embracing rock 'n' roll on their own terms. A review on Indie Vision Music noted the track's vocal harmonies and catchy chorus, making it an instant sing-along for listeners.

Huntingtons, a punk band from Baltimore, Maryland, formed in 1993–1994 by Cliff Powell (Cliffy Huntington), Mike Holt (Mikey Huntington), and Mike Pierce (Mikee Huntington). Heavily influenced by the Ramones, they started playing in the Maryland and Delaware area, building a cult following with their high-energy, Ramonescore sound. Their debut album, Sweet Sixteen, dropped in 1996 via Flying Tart Records, followed by Rocket to Ramonia, a Ramones covers album, on Burnt Toast Vinyl. Signing with Tooth & Nail Records in 1998 for High School Rock marked their big break, leading to extensive touring and a deal with Sexy Baby Records in Chicago. The band gained notoriety for their Ramones obsession, even backing Joey Ramone for two CBGB shows in NYC. Despite lineup changes, they solidified with Josh Blackway (Jonny Huntington) on guitar and Josh Zimmer (Danny No. 2) on drums by 2000, touring the US and Europe relentlessly.
