Temptation

Hurricane

The Zoo Crew, those groovy hippie DJs at THE ZOO radio station, are spinning "Temptation" by Hurricane from their 1990 album Slave to the Thrill, firing up the Zoo Freaks in the audience. This track, a high-energy hard rock anthem, is a standout from the album, clocking in at a tight 3:13. According to a review on Limelight Magazine, "Temptation" is described as an "explosive track," showcasing the band’s heavier edge with guitarist Doug Aldrich’s blistering riffs and Kelly Hansen’s aggressive, soaring vocals. While specific interviews or quotes about the song are scarce, fan discussions on Hurricane Band Fans on Facebook highlight its infectious groove, with some fans recalling how it was a staple at live shows during the band’s late ’80s and early ’90s heyday. The song’s lyrics, co-written with Jeff Jones, capture the raw, rebellious spirit of the era, making it a perfect fit for the Zoo Freaks’ wild vibes.

Hurricane formed in 1985 in Los Angeles, born from the gritty heart of the Sunset Strip’s hair metal scene. The band’s origins trace back to Quiet Riot’s Kevin DuBrow, who introduced guitarist Robert Sarzo and bassist Tony Cavazo, brothers of Quiet Riot’s Rudy Sarzo and Carlos Cavazo. They recruited vocalist Kelly Hansen and drummer Jay Schellen, later adding guitarist Michael Guy to complete the initial lineup. With little label interest early on, Hurricane took matters into their own hands, self-releasing their debut album Take What You Want in 1985. According to their bio on Wikipedia, this DIY effort, paired with relentless touring, caught the attention of Enigma Records, who signed them after they opened for Stryper on their To Hell with the Devil tour in 1986–87. Their sophomore album, Over the Edge, featured their only charting hit, “I’m on to You,” peaking at No. 33 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Tracks in 1988. By the time Slave to the Thrill dropped in 1990, with Doug Aldrich replacing Sarzo, the band had honed a tighter, more melodic sound, though shifting musical tastes limited its commercial success.
