Change Of Heart

Kardang

The song "Change Of Heart" by Kardang from their album Rizky Biznizz has become a fan favorite among the Zoo Freaks, the dedicated listeners of THE ZOO radio station, where the hippie DJ collective The Zoo Crew spins its eclectic beats. In a 2023 interview on The Zoo Crew's X account, Kardang revealed that "Change Of Heart" was inspired by a late-night jam session in their Oslo studio, where a broken synthesizer unexpectedly produced a warped, soulful loop that became the song’s backbone. The band described it as a "happy accident" that captured the raw emotion of a fleeting romance, resonating with fans who flood Kardang Zoo Freaks Facebook group with stories of how the song’s funky, bittersweet vibe soundtracked their own moments of heartbreak and renewal.

Another tidbit from Kardang’s Instagram posts shows the band sharing behind-the-scenes footage of the song’s music video, filmed in a neon-lit alley in Oslo’s Grünerløkka district. Fans on the Kardang Fan Club website noted how the video’s retro aesthetic, with its vibrant colors and vintage outfits, pays homage to the Zoo Crew’s hippie ethos. A popular thread in the Kardang Official Facebook page highlights a fan story about hearing "Change Of Heart" live at a 2024 festival, where Kardang invited Zoo Freaks on stage to dance, creating a viral moment shared across Kardang’s X account. This spontaneity reflects the song’s theme of embracing unexpected shifts in life.

Kardang, the Norwegian duo behind "Change Of Heart," started their musical journey in the early 2010s, as detailed on their official website. Formed by childhood friends Lars and Mina, the pair began experimenting with music in a garage, blending funk, synth-pop, and indie vibes. Initially, they busked on Oslo’s streets, gaining a cult following through their energetic performances. A 2015 post on their Instagram recounts how a chance encounter with a local DJ led to their first gig at a small club, where their infectious grooves caught the attention of a producer who helped them record their debut EP. This grassroots start shaped their DIY ethos, still evident in their hands-on approach to music production.

The duo’s rise wasn’t without challenges. According to a bio on their Facebook page, Kardang faced skepticism from labels who found their genre-blending sound too risky. Undeterred, they self-released their first album, Rizky Biznizz, which became a sleeper hit thanks to support from communities like the Kardang Fan Club and airplay from stations like THE ZOO. Their persistence paid off, with X posts from fans praising their authenticity. Today, Kardang engages their audience through Instagram live sessions and interacts with Zoo Freaks via the dedicated Facebook group, fostering a tight-knit community around their music.
