For the Sun

Monster Truck

The song "For the Sun" by Monster Truck from their debut album Furiosity is a standout track that showcases the band’s ability to blend blues-infused classic rock with a soulful edge. According to a review by Unsung Melody, the song evokes the spirit of Led Zeppelin, with its slow, heavy structure, ambient organ, and powerful vocal delivery from frontman Jon Harvey. The review highlights its emotional depth, noting that the momentum into the chorus feels "powerful and emotional," making it one of the top tracks on the album. While specific interviews about the song’s creation are scarce, guitarist Jeremy Widerman has shared in broader discussions that the band’s writing process often captures spontaneous inspiration, suggesting that "For the Sun" likely emerged from a moment of raw creative energy during their early recording sessions with producer Eric Ratz.

Monster Truck formed in 2009 in Hamilton, Ontario, as a side project that quickly became a full-fledged rock force. The band consists of Jon Harvey (bass and lead vocals), Jeremy Widerman (guitar and vocals), Brandon Bliss (organ and vocals), and Steve Kiely (drums and vocals). Initially, the members were involved in other bands like The Reason and Saint Alvia, playing genres ranging from punk to metal. Their shared love for rock ‘n’ roll led to the creation of Monster Truck, named after Kiely’s Chevrolet Astro van, affectionately dubbed the "Monster Truck." What started as a fun outlet for playing straightforward rock evolved when their early shows and self-released EP in 2010 gained traction, leading to festival slots and a growing fanbase. Their 2011 EP, The Brown EP, featuring the hit "Seven Seas Blues," propelled them to Canadian rock radio fame, setting the stage for Furiosity in 2013.

The band’s official website is ilovemonstertruck.com, where fans can find updates on tours, music, and merchandise.
