One More Time

Streetheart

The Zoo Crew, those groovy hippie DJs at THE ZOO radio station, are spinning the classic track "One More Time" by Streetheart from their 1982 self-titled album, Streetheart, for all the Zoo Freaks out there. This song, a standout from the album, is known for its catchy melody and heartfelt lyrics, making it a fan favorite. According to a post on YouTube, "One More Time" is described as the closing track of the album, delivering a powerful emotional punch that resonates with listeners. Fans on Streetheart’s official Facebook page have shared stories of how this song became a staple at their live shows, with its soaring vocals and driving rhythm getting crowds moving. One fan commented on a 2025 post, reminiscing about hearing it live in Winnipeg, calling it “the perfect encore song that left everyone wanting more.”

While specific interviews about "One More Time" are scarce, the album itself marked a significant moment for Streetheart, as it was the debut of guitarist Jeff Neill, whose contributions helped shape the band’s polished sound. The album, certified Double Platinum in Canada, sold over 200,000 copies, with hits like “What Kind of Love Is This” and “One More Time” driving its success. On Streetheart’s Instagram, a 2025 post celebrated the album’s legacy, sharing a throwback photo of the band in the studio, captioned, “Recording ‘One More Time’ was all about capturing that raw energy.” The song’s enduring appeal is evident in fan discussions on the Streetheart Fanatics Facebook group, where members swap stories about how the track’s romantic vibe made it a go-to for road trips and late-night drives.

Streetheart’s journey began in 1975 in Regina, Saskatchewan, when vocalist Kenny Shields, keyboardist Daryl Gutheil, and bassist Ken “Spider” Sinnaeve formed a band called Wascana. As detailed on their official website, the group later became Witness before evolving into Streetheart in 1977 with the addition of guitarist Paul Dean and drummer Matt Frenette. The band relocated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, where they honed their hard rock sound. Their debut album, Meanwhile Back in Paris..., released in 1978, set the stage for their rise, followed by Under Heaven Over Hell in 1979. Despite early lineup changes, with Dean and Frenette leaving to form Loverboy, Streetheart continued to build a loyal fanbase, releasing a string of successful albums through the early 1980s, including the iconic self-titled Streetheart album featuring “One More Time.”

The band’s resilience and passion for music kept them active, even after a breakup in 1983, with a reformation in 1999 and ongoing performances into 2025. Fans can connect with Streetheart through their official website, Facebook, Instagram, and X accounts, where they share updates on tours and merchandise. The Streetheart Fanatics Facebook group is a vibrant community where Zoo Freaks and other fans trade memorabilia, discuss favorite tracks like “One More Time,” and organize meetups at shows. Another fan hub, Rate Your Music, features detailed discographies and fan reviews, keeping the band’s legacy alive for new and longtime listeners.
