Madman

SUiCiDE BOMBERS

The song "Madman" by Suicide Bombers from their 2019 album Murder Couture is a high-energy sleaze rock anthem that has become a fan favorite among Zoo Freaks tuning into THE ZOO. In a 2019 interview with The Rockpit, lead vocalist Chris Damien Doll described "Madman" as a track that captures the band's wild, unapologetic spirit, saying it was written to evoke the chaos and freedom of a night out with no limits. The song's infectious hooks and gritty riffs were crafted to get crowds moving, with Doll noting on Facebook that it was one of the first tracks they perfected for the album, inspired by late-night jam sessions in their Oslo studio.

Another piece of trivia comes from a post on the band’s Instagram, where they shared that "Madman" was nearly left off Murder Couture due to debates over its tempo. Guitarist Stevie Tee insisted on speeding it up, which gave the song its signature driving rhythm. Fans on the Suicide Bombers Fan Club Facebook group have echoed this, with one member calling it "the ultimate party starter" at live shows. The band also revealed in a 2020 X post that the lyrics were partly inspired by a wild encounter with a fan in Berlin who dubbed himself a "madman" after sneaking backstage to share drinks with the band.

Suicide Bombers got their start in Oslo, Norway, in 2009, when Chris Damien Doll, a veteran of the local punk scene, teamed up with guitarist Stevie Tee to create a band that blended glam, sleaze, and hard rock. According to their bio on their official website, Doll was driven by a love for bands like Mötley Crüe and Hanoi Rocks, aiming to revive the raw, rebellious energy of '80s glam metal with a modern edge. The duo recruited drummer Lyle Starr and bassist Nikki Twist, forming a lineup that prioritized theatrical live performances and catchy, attitude-driven songs. Their early gigs in Oslo’s underground clubs built a loyal following, leading to their 2012 debut album Criminal Record, which set the stage for their rise in the European rock scene.

The band’s relentless touring and DIY ethos helped them grow, with their bio noting that they played over 100 shows across Europe before releasing their second album, Hangar 69, in 2016. Their commitment to engaging with fans is evident on platforms like Facebook and Instagram, where they regularly share behind-the-scenes content and interact with their audience. Fans can connect with the band through their official website, suicidebombers.net, and follow their updates on X. For deeper fan engagement, the Suicide Bombers Fan Club on Facebook is a hub for Zoo Freaks and other devotees to share concert photos, trade merch, and discuss tracks like "Madman."
