Solid Ground

Tom Keifer

The Zoo Crew is spinning "Solid Ground" by Tom Keifer, the gritty opener from his 2013 solo debut album, The Way Life Goes, and the Zoo Freaks are loving it! This hard-rocking track, with its AC/DC-like intro, is a fan favorite for its raw energy and introspective lyrics. In a 2014 interview with Bluebird Reviews, Keifer shared that "Solid Ground" reflects life’s constant evolution, emphasizing that it’s about the journey, not a final destination. He explained the song captures the idea of searching for a place to feel whole, yet acknowledging life’s ever-changing nature keeps you on your toes.

Another cool tidbit comes from a 2013 chat with Unsung Melody, where Keifer revealed that "Solid Ground" was co-written with his wife, Savannah, in a single night. Unlike some tracks that took years to craft, this one came together in a burst of inspiration, with the couple banging out the lyrics and melody in one sitting. Keifer described it as a "battle cry" for the challenges he’s faced, from vocal cord issues to personal struggles. A 2022 post on X by @TomKeiferMusic celebrated the song as the first single from the album, highlighting its role in launching his solo journey with the #KeiferBand.

Tom Keifer’s path to rock stardom began in Pennsylvania, where he was born and raised with a passion for music. As a kid, he dreamed of playing music, a goal that fueled his early years. He started performing in local bands, honing his skills as a singer, guitarist, and songwriter. His big break came when he formed Cinderella in the early 1980s, a band that blended bluesy hard rock with glam metal flair. Discovered by Jon Bon Jovi at Philadelphia’s Empire Rock Club, Cinderella signed with Mercury Records, and their 1986 debut album, Night Songs, sold millions, cementing Keifer’s place in rock history. Despite vocal cord paralysis in the 1990s that nearly ended his career, Keifer’s resilience led to years of vocal retraining, paving the way for his solo work, including The Way Life Goes.

Keifer remains active and connected with fans. You can catch up with him on his official website, where you’ll find tour dates, merch, and news. His Facebook page shares updates and live show photos, while his Instagram offers behind-the-scenes glimpses and throwbacks. On X, Keifer engages with fans, posting about new music and milestones.
