Forever Young

Tyketto

The Zoo Crew is spinning "Forever Young" by Tyketto from their debut album Don't Come Easy, a track that’s a full-on anthem for the Zoo Freaks out there. This song, released in 1991, is a hard-hitting melodic rock gem that became Tyketto’s biggest hit. According to a 2017 review on The Rockpit, the song was an instant crowd-pleaser during a June 1991 show in Nottingham, where fans sang along to every word, shocking frontman Danny Vaughn with their enthusiasm for a band on only their third gig outside the U.S. The track’s infectious energy and lyrics like “Forever young, time on our side, we’ve got tomorrow, we’ve got tonight” capture a timeless, fist-pumping spirit that still resonates, as noted by MyRockMixtapes, which called it a song you can’t skip no matter how many times you’ve heard it. A 1988 demo of "Forever Young" surfaced on SoundCloud, showing the band’s early confidence in the track’s potential. Fans on Amazon reviews rave about its staying power, with one recalling a Salt Lake City concert where Tyketto, as an opening act, stole the show with their electrifying performance of this song.

Tyketto formed in New York City in 1987, sparked by vocalist Danny Vaughn, who’d just left the band Waysted. As detailed on Wikipedia, Vaughn teamed up with guitarist Brooke St. James, bassist Jimi Kennedy, and drummer Michael Clayton after spotting the name “Tyketto” painted on a Brooklyn wall and thinking it had a cool ring to it. By 1989, their blend of Whitesnake and Bon Jovi-inspired hard rock landed them a deal with Geffen Records. Their debut album, Don't Come Easy, dropped in 1991, but the rise of grunge overshadowed their hopes of mainstream success. Despite this, the album’s sharp production and Vaughn’s soaring vocals earned a cult following, with Last.fm noting their music as a standout in the early ‘90s hair metal scene. The band faced lineup changes and a breakup in 1996 but reunited in 2004 and has kept rocking, with recent posts on their Facebook page hyping new music being recorded at Rockfield Studios in 2025.
