My Radio

Tyler Bryant

The Zoo Crew, those groovy hippie DJs at THE ZOO radio station, are spinning "My Radio" by Tyler Bryant from his 2011 EP of the same name, much to the delight of their Zoo Freaks. This track, a raw and soulful blues-rock anthem, captures the essence of Bryant's early sound. In a 2017 interview with Louder, Bryant shared a story about the song's creation, noting it was born from his frustration with record labels who doubted its commercial potential, saying, “They told us we didn’t have a radio single, but I could upload a record for fourteen dollars for the whole world to hear.” This defiance fueled the song’s gritty energy, reflecting his determination to prove them wrong.

Another tidbit comes from AllMusic, which highlights that "My Radio" was part of Bryant's first EP, released in March 2011, marking a pivotal moment in his career as he transitioned from local Texas gigs to a broader audience. Fans on the Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown Fans Facebook group often cite "My Radio" as a fan favorite, with posts praising its raw guitar riffs and nostalgic vibe, perfect for road trips or late-night jam sessions. Though Bryant hasn’t shared specific social media posts about the song recently, his Instagram stories occasionally feature throwback clips of early performances, where fans speculate he’s hinting at the song’s enduring influence on his live sets.

Tyler Bryant, born Tyler Dow Bryant on February 24, 1991, in Paris, Texas, began his musical journey at age six when he picked up his first guitar. According to his Wikipedia bio, by 11, he was so skilled he sold his Christmas gift dirtbike to buy a red Epiphone Les Paul, a bold move that paid off. That same year, he met blues musician Roosevelt Twitty, who became his mentor and teacher. Together, they formed the Blues Buddies, performing across Texas. Bryant’s talent shone early, earning him the Robert Johnson Gibson New Generation Award at 15 for his guitar prowess, as noted on AllMusic. His move to Nashville during his senior year of high school, where he finished his studies online, solidified his path, leading to the formation of Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown.

Today, fans can connect with Bryant through his official channels, including his website, Facebook, Instagram, and X accounts, where he shares tour updates and behind-the-scenes glimpses. The Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown Fans Facebook group is a vibrant community where Zoo Freaks and other devotees discuss his music, share concert photos, and celebrate tracks like "My Radio." While no dedicated fan websites were found, the band’s official site and socials provide plenty of ways for fans to stay in the loop with Bryant’s blues-rock revolution.
